History
Sitapur , a sacred land of saints and Sufis has its own tremendous narrative. It is said that it was named after the wife of Lord Rama, Sita. Another anecdote that adds to its mythological significance is its association with the exile of Pandavas. Holy pilgrimage of Namishararaya celebrates its holy relevance as it has been the place where many ascetics performed penance .It is also said that Maharishi Dadhichi had contributed his bones to God for making Vajra. Sitapur's history has been inscribed by indian freedom fighters who under the impact of Mahatma Gandhi and his non corporation movement zealously raised their voice against the Imperial forces. Our prestigious insititution RMP PG college bears evidence of their nationalist passion as in the year 1921 they changed its name from 'Coronation Mercentile' to Rashtriya Mahajani Pathshala.
The journey of RMP institution starts from 1921.The elementary school Rashtriya Mahajani Pathshala graduated to R.M P Inter college and further in the year 1961 it saw a new dawn with the establishment of RMP Degree College. The steady evolution of RMP is the outcome of the vision, guidance and dedication of its founders and trustees. Since its inception, the institution has been imparting quality education in various disciplines upto post graduate level.
RMP PG College is acknowledged as Most Pioneering Academic Centre in Sitapur for providing education to boys and girls. Initially the college was affiliated to Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj University Kanpur but in 2020 it got its affiliation to Lucknow University.
